The south end of the trail climbs steadily away from the
Rails to River Trail over large roots and loose rocks. It continues to winds its way through enroaching bushes until it opens out into the campground.
There will be a gravel road network to your left (where campsites and a restroom are located) and a soccer field to your right. Follow the flat gravel road directly across from you till you see a skatepark and gate.
Look for the continuation of the trail in the grass and bushes before the gate. From there, the trail descends with a mixture of roots, sharp protruding rocks, and a series of loose switchbacks. Eventually, the trail straightens and starts to climb. Soon after, there will be a dirt path that intersects this trail at a perpendicular, traveling straight up and down the hill.
To continue on Campground Loop, head directly across this intersection. The trail features even more rocks and roots at this point, while continuing to climb. Keep an eye out for an optional rock roll on the left side of the trail.
Ahead, a number of small boulders on either side of the trail mark the start of a short technical descent that rushes down to a four-way intersection. To stay on Campground Loop, keep right and take the rock-filled trail that follows the south edge of the lake.
This part of the trail is filled with punchy little climbs and descents that travel between the campground and the lake. The trail stays parallel to the edge of the lake and starts to descend into a wooded area, containing a gravel loop. This is the north end of the trail.
To the left is the
Lakeside Trail that leads to the Water Mine Water Park and straight ahead is the Amphitheater Trail. Ignore the trail to the right as it just follows a steep climb to nowhere.
