Description

Peeples Lake Road is a forest road that climbs about two miles up to the popular Rock Creek ORV trails and Rock Creed Road (FS10). There are a lot of (presumably unsanctioned) side ORV trails as well as a number of camping sites along the way.

The first 0.1 mile is paved past a little piece of Americana. (Watch for loose dogs.) After that, the road turns to gravel until it merges with Rock Creed Road (FS10) toward Pinhoti 5. Along the climb, you'll enjoy long range views towards the west and of Fort Mountain directly in front of you. A steep unmarked side trail (junction just before Pinhoti 6 (FS 3A)) will take you there.

After the initial long climb, the road flattens out for about three miles. You'll pass a couple of small lakes including the namesake Peeples Lake at about 2.8 miles. There are several creeks that you'll pass or parallel along the upper reaches of this road, and except for the erosion from all the unsanctioned ATV trails, the area is quite pretty.

You can use Peeples Lake Road as part of a good loop ride with Pinhoti 6 (FS 3A) - Dennis Mill Road - Old Federal Road.
