Description

Shackle Rod Trail is named for the old system used to power oil wells in the area. Many spent shackle rods and bundles of rods are scattered around the area and can be seen from the trail. This trail will eventually be three miles in length and is currently rideable along much of its length.

From Drive-By Trailhead take the Drive-By Crag Road past the first steep climb and veer right onto the trail. Cross Marley Access Road and then Crags Loop Road once and follow it between trail sections until you reach Sore Heel Trail. Beyond Sore Heel Trail Shackle Rod is still under construction.
