Description

If you take the left at the split, this is the start of the Buc Ridge Trail. It will ride around the edge of a retention pond and then take a quick dip down and climb up that before popping out of the woods behind an apartment complex. Follow the trail until it turns back into the woods, for another steep descent and climb where you'll come out into a large field.

From here, you can circle around the field on an old short track trail that can just barely be picked out or take the more direct route back to the parking lot via the road to the right. Either choice will take you back to the large upper parking lot right above the trailhead.

Look for The Heights Trail Access connector that cuts off the first part of the climb from the trailhead and keeps you from having to ride down through the parking lot. People do sometimes park at this side of the lot and skip the first climb on The Heights Trail.

To get from The Buc Ridge Trail to The Heights Trail, you still have to cut across Southwest Ave. and then ride across part of the parking lot.
