The Competitive Track at Estrella Mountain Park; some sections are bumpy and technical, not much for high-speed...

Description [Suggest Changes]

This trail makes for a nice, leisurely grind through the desert. There are lots of rocks and bumps and several objects I had to carry the bike over. It's a lot of fun, though.

I have never seen another rider on this track. Park entrance fee is $6, at a self-pay station on the way in. There is also a connector trail to get to the main park from here.

First couple of miles are a grind. Steady uphill with lots of sand and rocks. The second half is really fun. Technical! Jan 10, 2017

Update: the park is now $7 to get into and do not try to go even 1 minute before sunrise the gate was locked and there was no way around it but to sit and wait. This trail, in my opinion, is not something I would consider intermediate and especially not easy/intermediate. The course has lots of big rocks and is extremely chunky to ride through. I just started mountain biking and have picked a few routes based on this website with its ranking of trails but this one is not rated appropriately in my opinion. Should be intermediate/difficult if not just difficult. Apr 26, 2018
Chunky!!!! Rode this trail this morning and was regretting the fact I was on a Hardtail. While there are a few flowy sections, 65% of the trail is heavily littered with bowling ball sized rocks. Makes for a long 9.6 miles on a hardtail. Might be a different story on full-suspension. I think a rating of Intermediate/Difficult would be more appropriate. Dan Apr 26, 2018
