Overview
This ride is a fun short ride that connects into a large network of trails located in northern Phoenix. Great views of the city as well as sections where you wouldn't know you're in the middle of the city.
Description
The first 3 miles of this trail is easy and works well as a warm up. Most of the climbing is at a lower grade and there are not many obstacles to get through.
At mile 4, this route avoids taking trail 100 east avoiding a higher grade technical section. You'll connect back to Trail 100 at the top of the hill. Stick to Trail 100 until about 5.5 miles (after passing under Cave Creek Road). Stay left at the fork and prepare for a higher grade climb. Once you're at the top and cross the driveway for the water, tower take the trail on the left (you'll come back on the other trail). The next mile will run you near the homes off the mountain. Once you connect back to Trail 100 you'll cut right and climb a steep grade for a short distance.
The next 1.5 miles becomes more intermediate with some exposure on the right, another high grade climb and some navigating through some large rocky obstacles. Enjoy the downhill, cross the water tower road and return back to Trail 100.
After climbing back up to the ridge (west of Cave Creek Road) you want to take the unmarked singletrack slightly left of the Trail 100 marker post. This trail is a fun downhill and is used as a way to access Trail 25. After you pop out of the singletrack downhill, take a left on Trail 25 to take you back to Trail 100. Head back under 7th Street and stay on the trail to the right to head back to the parking lot at Central Ave.
