Description

This trail connects the Bear Lakes Loop with the Mt. Elwell trail and the Pacific Crest Trail. From the far west side of the Bear Lakes Loop, go west on the Silver Lake Trail as it climbs and begins to head southwest. Silver Lake is soon reached on the left at the junction for the Round Lake to Silver Lake Connector (12E33). Keep right to continue on the Silver Lake Trail.

At the next junction with the Mud Lake Trail, stay left. The trail will traverse the mountainside as it climbs to the ridge. At the ridge, there will be another left turn at a junction. To the right is a short segment that leads to the Mt. Elwell Trail, where, to the right, goes up to Mt. Elwell and left goes to the west end of the Mt. Elwell Trail.

Back at the Silver Lake Trail, keep left to continue on to the Pacific Crest Trail. Return the way you came for a nice singletrack descent.
