This trail provides a nice access to the Hays Woods area from Glass Run Road. It avoids the busier Black Run Road on the other side of the hill. However, the trail is currently in very bad condition, with at least a dozen fallen trees and a couple of huge piles of dirt on the way.

The trail is a mixture of old paved road and singletrack. It is surrounded by vegetation but not too overgrown during summer.

The Hays Woods area has been recently (2016) bought by the city of Pittsburgh and will became the biggest park in the city. It's impressive how far this area feels from civilization, even if it's right next to the city.

The Hays Woods area is a nesting site for bald eagles, be respectful.
