From the antennas in the northeast corner of the park, head westbound on the River Mountain Road doubletrack along the ridgeline. The road is up and down for about 2 miles before turning more sharply upward for 3 climbs. The last climb is the steepest and tops out at the fire tower and the park's highest point at 2,400 feet.
Continue about .5 miles past the tower to the intersection of Indian Pipes Trail, bear left and downhill continuing on River Mountain Road. The last 1/4 mile is a sometimes steep, rocky descent crossing several areas of exposed bedrock and gullies to the finish at Feagan's Gap. This road is ridden in both directions but the westbound route from the antennas to the fire tower is easier than climbing up from Feagan's Gap and is used to get to the start of Indian Pipes Trail leading to the backcountry of the park.
