Though not closed in winter, both ends are often plowed shut with mounded snow. Significant drifting snow may make for a late spring thaw in some years.

Description

A 90/10 mix of multi-use, 4WD trail and singletrack that provides a route from Shafer Butte Rd. to Shaw Mountain Rd. (Route E) and Rocky Canyon Rd. at Aldape Summit (one could just take the road the whole way if desired).

Access this trail by car at either end or come up Sunset Peak Rd. (formerly 8th Street) to hit the middle of the trail.

This stretch of mild ups and downs connects you to a multitude of other trails both east and west of the Boise Ridge.

Among others, this trail intersects the following from north to south: Around the Mountain Trail (98), Mahalo, Gardiner Peak Trail, Dry Creek, Shingle Creek, Hard Guy, Bumpies Trail, 4A Hulls Ridge Trail, Five Mile Gulch, and Shaw Mountain Rd. (Route E).
