Biking is prohibited on the McHugh Creek Trail after mile 4.4 at Rabbit Lake.

Description

The route to Rabbit Lake is a long, moderate climb up an old road bed that eventually turns to singletrack. Your reward for the long climb is that the trail ends at a gorgeous alpine lake. The area is popular in the summer with hikers and skiers in the winter, so you'll likely not be the only one on the trail.

Real tough trail for riding, lots of big rocks on an uphill grade, and the wind must have been 50mph! Lots of people walking the trail as well.

Trail is rocky. Starts steep and ride back can be a little sketchy with so many hikers heading up on a nice day. Second half of ride fairly "flat", but in reality over a fairly rough trail of rounded rock, almost like natural cobble stone. Larger wheels and full suspensions need not worry, but my 30 yr old hard-tail 26" Trek was struggling. I also had a rear pannier bag - bad idea on any mtn bike ride... Sep 4, 2018
