Need to Know

Note that the Turnbull Canyon trails have strict access hours so check the Puente Hills Habitat Authority website.

Description

Park at the county parks lot just north of Rio Hondo on Workman Mill Road. Cross the street, and you’ll see the trailhead access. Follow the well-marked doubletrack and access road to the top where there are benches. Watch for hikers and horses. A bell would be considerate.

There are some steeper sections, and one section with steps, but all is rideable. Between the radio tower buildings at the top, you can take a short down and up singletrack to hit some switchbacks to an access trail that connects to the backside of the 7th Street loop, part of the Turnbull Canyon series of trails.

Overall, this is a decent but longer alternative to the very steep 7th Street access to Turnbull Canyon via the Ahwingna Trail.
