Overview

You'll be riding past Mt. Elbert, the tallest peak in Colorado, which tops out at 14,440 ft. This route is beautiful in the fall, especially around Twin Lakes, where the fall colors reflect off the water.

Section Of

Description

The trail starts at the Halfmoon Parking area for Mt Elbert. It is a bit of a climb for the first couple of miles, with some loose rock, but with relatively low hike-a-bike.

You'll have plenty of company on this route, with hikers attempting to hike Mt. Elbert, the highest peak in Colorado, and people taking in the sights at Twin Lakes. Twin Lakes has a food truck & general store for supplies.

Lots of traffic near the MT Elbert TH. Very chunky there as well. Trail gets fast & flowy near the lily ponds. Had to turn back early due to time. 15mi
