The wilderness boundary is just past the lake, so if you want to go beyond the lake stash the bike and hike from there.

Description

A beautiful canyon and one of the few trails for beginner riders in the Bitterroot. 95% is on a car-free, mellow doubletrack. There is one section of singletrack at the trailhead and another short stretch around a cabin in the canyon.

There are nice views all the way up the Fred Burr Trail. There was still plenty of flow from the river in mid May 2017.

Technical or difficult? No. But a fun spin up the canyon with awesome scenery. Popular w hikers and horses so a weekday may be the best bet. 10.4mi — 1h 30m
