An awesome connection to the Paradise Royale Loop with stunning Pacific Ocean views.

Overview

Description

The Pacific Rim Trail is a link between Shelter Cove Road and the Paradise Royale Loop.

Start counter-clockwise on the Pacific Rim Green Loop, turning left on the Pacific Rim Trail. The climbing begins right away with a continuous grunt up to Paradise Ridge. Pedal through short, steep climbs punctuated by quick descents to another extended (less steep) gradual climb. The grade steepens again as you reach the high point of the trail. From here Its fast and fun as you traverse the ridge, crossing below Queen Peak.

Dont forget to take in the mesmerizing views of the Pacific Ocean before the exciting descent into the dense forest. You'll navigate a series of switchbacks before reaching the trail intersection on the east side of the Paradise Royale Loop.

From here you can retrace your ride in the opposite direction or continue on to the Paradise Royale Loop. Clockwise is the recommended direction.

Trail surface soft, lots of leaf litter, sketchy traction at speed on descent to Southern end.

SOFT! Downed tree, multiple hike-a-bike. View is great but save yourself frustration and ride up to the view from PR and turn around.

Dry, Fallen Trees - The trail hasn't seen a lot of action recently. Lots of leaves covering very lose rock making the trail descriptive and treacherous. Looks like someone has started clearing it.

Getting forecast...

I plan to ride this area on Weds 7/23 or 7/24. I appreciate any suggestions about the trail and also where to stay in the area Jul 20, 2015
