Description

Golden Gate is a rocky, sometimes rutted out trail. It generally trends downhill, when ridden from north to south, and winds its way around Golden Gate Mountain. There are many step downs along the trail, and sometimes multiple steps in a row.

Rode lower half only. Fun to ride from North to south so you go down most of the rocky steps. Only technical trail in area.

Everything still rollable after some heavy rain. Rating seems a bit "modest." Upper section super fun. Will skip lower section next time.

This is great fun when begun at the G5 parking pullout. Cross the road, do the trail, and come back to where you started using Ironwood Trail. 1.5mi — 0h 30m

Blue-black is a bit of a sandbag imo. Some rapid sequences of tall steps in steep, tight terrain, with cactus waiting to catch your tumble. That said - it’s super fun and a thousand times better than Yetman. Lower section west of Rattlesnake intersection is much more casual. Mtb project peoples, please don’t rate a trail’s difficulty if you haven’t ridden the entire thing. This is an issue over on mountain project too. Dec 2, 2018
