Dogs Leashed
Description
This trail only makes sense to ride one direction: from the north east end on
Sovereign, down to just before
Long Valley road, and then back up to
Sovereign.
It starts out easy enough down a shallow slickrock wash, and then breaks off on moderate singletrack. It descends steeply and goes through a cool rock tunnel and other formations.
It then descends into a deep canyon with big drops and ledges. The trail rewards proper line selection with fun, technical drops that require decent skill to negotiate but are definitely ride-able.
Climbing back up the west end can be a difficult grunt with a bit of hike-a-bike for some. Pay attention around the mid-point as the trail forks. If you miss the turn to the right you'll drop you on
Long Valley. Not a big deal, just turn around and keep your
MTB Project mobile app handy for proper guidance.
For most riders riding the
Sovereign Trail this will be a great addition to the loop and well worth the minimal extra distance. For those who are spent at this point it may be better to skip this section and take the easy bypass, but you'll be missing out!
