Golden Gate Loop (GH 39) begins and ends on Prospect Hill Road
(GH 38) about equidistant in either direction from Side Door
. Golden Gate Loop can be used to bypass the top of either the Prospect Hill Road
, or Sawmill Road
(GH 22) (aka Heinous Hill) climbs.
The doubletrack spurs off of Prospect Hill Road
rolling initially. There is a false right turn in the first 1/4 mile of the trail to a campsite. Once the trail intersects Dry Gulch Trail
(GH 35) it turns a hard right and begins to climb more steeply.
The trail passes several historic, mining era cabins (one of them leaning over) and tops out just after passing Harum Trail
, an unmarked moto singletrack on the north side of the trail. The trail contours back to Prospect Hill Road
at a three-way intersection.
