A challenging singletrack climb. Also, an easier way down than the difficult Chutes Ridgeline.

Description [Suggest Changes]

aka: "Zips" or "Old Chutes". This trail starts at the north end of Roadrunner Loop. Ride north from the trail kiosk that overlooks a deep creek bed, drop down the steep bank and climb the other side. After a hundred yards look for a trail split, and take the left one. The right split is Chutes Ridgeline, a difficult downhill full of drops, banked turns, and features.

Chutes Trail climbs a steep, rocky hill with switchbacks. On this north-facing hill there is not very much vegetation, and the little there is tends to be small bushes or cactus. Mentioned earlier, Chutes Ridgeline descends almost parallel to Chutes Trail, and you'll have many opportunities to watch the downhill action as you climb right next to it.

Less than half-way up, the two Chute trails actually cross each other. Make sure you are climbing up the right side after this cross-over.

Did some warm up loops on Egret and Willows then climbed up Chutes Trail. Took a little breather and some pix at the top and had a great ride down. 10.6mi — 1h 57m
