Update

A great descent, out and back, or loop for a beautiful, challenging, fun day.

Overview

Upper reaches of trail closed until July 1 to protect calving elk.

Description

The trail is fantastic on descent (taking the lift makes this a great option if you want a great ride without 3,200' of climbing!). It's fast and flowing and can be mesmerizing.

As a climb, this trail begins at the warm springs base area out Warm Springs road. The first bit of the trail is a bit steep, but don't worry - it becomes more gradual once you get into the trees. The trail switchbacks and traverses all the way to the top of Bald Mountain. This climb does take some aerobic effort, so be aware.

Beautiful sections of burned trees will open you to many amazing vistas. The trail is mostly smooth and fast, with a few rocky sections but nothing severe.

Getting forecast...

Get a lift ticket, ride a few loops on the front of the mountain and then drop back into town and keep using the lift to shuttle this trail. This is an awesome trail, great flow and views. The bottom part of the trail is like a super highway bmx track through the pines! Loved it! Jul 5, 2017
