After branching off (to the left) from the American River Trail, West Ridge starts with a long, hard climb. Once at the top you'll be rewarded with an excellent view of the Cronan Ranch valley.

The trail is a combination of singletrack and fire road. There are no technical sections, but the initial climb is demanding.

The trail ends at the intersection with Cronan Ranch Road, then you can take a long fast descent to the Cronan Ranch parking lot. Watch out for horse riders.
