Description
McGunn Creek Loop leaves
Lakeview Loop to skirt a ridge above the McGunn Creek valley, drops down a small side valley in a sweet sweeping turn, climbs again to the ridge with overlooks of the creek amid numerous protruding glacial popple rocks, swings away for the creek to entertain a mix of small woods and old fields, turning back to the creek and descending a steep bench to ravine floor. Be sure to stop at the bottom of the hill at the bench overlooking the small waterfall there.
Then continue riding upstream along the creek, with more rock, up a steep narrow bench where the creek cuts into the hillside, then rolling back down to the creek where it widens up a bit across from the township waste water treatment plant out of sight across the ravine (if the wind is wrong, that's what you smell). The climb continues as it rises above the stream until after a short punch it delivers you back to the rim of the valley. From there the trail becomes more flowy as it skirts the rim gently downhill to the its start and the intersection with Lakeview.
