Fort Ord National Monument trails are closed from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise.

Description

This trail connects West Machine Gun Flats Road to Watkins Gate Road and passes Trail 68 and Trail 69 along the way. Starting from West Machine Gun Flats you head straight up a gradual climb through the manzanita and crest the hill at the entrance to Trail 68. Keep going straight and the trail (an old road really) starts to get alternate between rutted and sandy sections.

It is pretty fun at speed but watch the sand and ruts as they may send you into the bushes along the way. Near the bottom most people will take the right onto Trail 69 (left on Trail 69 leads to a really sandy section of trail) or you can head straight out to Watkins Gate Road.
