This is the view approaching the remnants of April Trestle on April Trail. Mining ore cars brought cinnabar (mercury ore) out of the April Tunnel at the left end of April Trestle.
Great northeastern view from the bench on the short Catherine Tunnel trail at close to 1,600 feet high.
At the end of the "Catherine Tunnel" is this surprising shady little picnic/rest oasis.
