Overview

Mount Mansfield State Forest is the largest contiguous tract of land managed by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation (Essex and Barre District Offices).

There are four state parks contained within the boundaries of the forest including Little River State Park, Smuggler's Notch State Park, Underhill State Park and Waterbury Center State Park, as well as two Natural Areas, including Daniels Notch Natural Area and Mt. Mansfield Natural Area.

The forest is named for Mount Mansfield, the highest point in Vermont.
