Steamboat Springs has often been known as Ski Town USA but boasts a vast and extensive network of world-class trails for all users. Located 160 miles from Denver, Steamboat is nestled into the Yampa Valley on the western side of the Continental Divide.

Local Info

At 6,695 feet, the riding season filters into both spring and fall and provides a multitude of experiences. To get your legs ready get started with Howelsen Meadows or Spring Creek Trail, both rideable from downtown.

From there, head up on Emerald Mountain where you many choice rides. The Beall - Ridge - Rotary Loop, a beautiful tour of the backside of Emerald Mountain featuring amazing views. On the front side, Emerald Mountain Intermediate or Emerald Mountain Advanced will give you a top to bottom tour right from the base of Howlesen Hill.

Looking to skip the ride up and let gravity do the work? Head to Steamboat Ski Area where the recently developed bike park is only a lift ride away. Start with Tenderfoot to E-Z Rider to get a feel for the berms and turns before moving onto more advanced trails like Rustlers Ridge and Rawhide.

For backcountry solitude, head north to the North Fork to Coulton Creek Shuttle. The singletrack is amazing and so is the ice cream at the Clark Store.

If you bring a dirt jumper with you, don't forget to check out the Bear River Bike Park - a winner of the 2013 Bell Built Grant awards.

Food & Drink

Creekside Cafe - excellent breakfast featuring 13 different eggs benedict options
Laundry - small plates, cocktails
Rootz - 737 Lincoln Ave. Fantastic health food cafe and real smoothies.
Mazzola's Italian Diner - Solid pizza and Italian.
Sumatera - 1104 Lincoln Ave. Surprisingly good Thai food in a hole-in-the-wall with just 5 tables.

Camping & Lodging

As a very popular resort destination, there are a multitude of places to stay from a tent to 5 star and beyond accommodation. The ski area to the south of downtown has oodles of hotel rooms and condos.

Camping is plentiful throughout the Yampa Valley. Both primitive and established sites are available on USFS lands. There are also Colorado State Parks in the area that offer both tent and RV sites with established facilities.
