Family Friendly This trail is in the neighborhood of Walnut Creek. It's fairly flat and not a lot of off camber sections.

This trail is clear and maintained locally. Usually in good standing. While it doesn't technically close, not riding after rains would be better for the trail. It does drain well and 24 hours is more than enough time to dry out.

There are three access points and a parking lot at the west side (playground) and center (pool). At the east side, there's no lot and street parkers will get toed.

Need to Know

Parking on the west side (at the park) or center (at the pool) is free. No restrooms unless you're a member at the pool there.

Description

Starting at the pool parking lot, you'll dip in beside the bridge, this section is fast with rocky soil and really sets the pace for the entire ride. As you rip down the trail into the pine trees, you'll encounter some fast turns that will bring you to your first climb. While the climbs on this side of the trail are minimal, there's one, and it's steep. Once you get your heart rate way up, the trail makes way for some more fast and flowy trail.

While you'll rarely lose sight of houses on this side, you'll start to get the feeling that you're riding some Florida singletrack. About 2.5 miles in, the trail will take a tight turn to the left and open up to a paved path next to a soccer field. This is where you'll want to turn around. As you're going back to the bridge that you dipped in, you'll notice that somehow this direction seems just as fast. You'll ride all that you just rode, but the other direction.

Once you get back to the road, you'll go across, the road, and across the bridge to get to the other side. Once you go down into the woods, it will feel like you've entered a totally different trail. About 200 ft in, you'll come across a long wooden bridge to keep you out of the swampy land. This can get slick at times, so be careful here.

Once off the bridge, you'll start your climb. This is the longest and toughest of the whole trail. Get to the top and look for a rocky descent. About the time that your smile wears off from the descent, you'll come across a large swinging bridge. You'll need to dismount to get up the stairs. From there, the trail becomes a bit more difficult out to the road. Once at the road, turn back around and have a bit more fun coming back the other way.

All in all, it's a fun trail and a good workout. It's a good place to do some speed work or just go out with some noobs to teach them the ropes.
