Fire danger closes the forest in the summer.

Description

This trail contours the hillside above the paved D25. You can ride it in either direction. The track rolls along, rising and falling. But it's easier from west to east as mapped.

The route was clearly once a rough, narrow road/doubletrack, but it seemingly has only been used by bikers and hikers for long enough that it is effectively a singletrack now. It appears that in 2022 the forest guardians masticated along this trail (possibly for a fire break?). Hacking back the encroaching vegetation means the trail is lovely to ride now: faster, less scratchy, and less possibility of ticks. And rare wildflowers like Narrow-leaved Helleborine and Rush-leaf Jonquil are reappearing after having been shaded out. Don't run over them!

Start at Latitude/Longitude: 43.7248 N / 4.96522 E. Head uphill and watch for the track breaking off to your left after a few hundred meters.

The trail ends at a fire road. Turning left here will take you to the D25 paved road, with a parallel singletrack.

Turning right will lead you on to poppy fields (in May) where you can visit the Villa Gallo-Romain de Saint Pierre de Vence, or on to a pass below the Tour des Opies via the Val de Lègue trail.

Lovely wildflowers, and the bushes are nicely trimmed back from the trail
