If you come to a gate then you have come to the end of the trail. You MUST TURN AROUND at this point and backtrack about a mile to the fire road. The Sheriff will be called and you'll be cited if you continue (see picture of sign, below).

Description

This trail takes off from the Smith Lake Trail just east of the north end of the Mt. Elwell Trail. If descending the Mt. Elwell Trail, you can take a right on Smith Lake Trail to quickly reach the start of this singletrack.

The trail descends rapidly along the left side of Smith Creek. It rides best as a descent due to the steep grade. Near the bottom you'll intersect the Gray Eagle Connector on the right. Stay left to continue down to the end of the trail. From there, keep right to wind your way out on fire roads that descend to Graeagle.
