Description

Lower Hareball starts out with several short bridges and winding singletrack before crossing under the Western Express lift line and dropping off the side of the mountain.

There are several crux dirt shoots where stopping is simply not an option and you must ride it out until the catch berm at the bottom calms your nerves. Sharp rocks and off-camber roots mix with steep terrain to make this trail a test-piece for even the most seasoned riders. To make things more challenging, the trail is often buttered up with a lair of mud from the most recent race day.

Once through the steepest section, bikers encounter Roberto's Rock, a classic four-foot drop that's left many a rider wadded up or OTB. If you make it past unscathed, one more steep rock garden awaits before the trail crosses over the ski slope once again.

Don't relax just yet and carry some speed, because four linked double jumps with a memorable cheese-wedge huck in the middle await. Following this section, the trail merges with Pro DH and Skyline, leaving the rider to choose between going straight to Finish Line Rock, or cutting right to rail through a few more berms and tasty tabletops to the bottom.

Several World Cup Racers have claimed that on a wet day, Lower Hareball is harder than many if not all of the internationally acclaimed courses on the circuit.
