Overview

A lovely multi-loop trail system through ponderosa, pinyon, and aspens. From north to south, ride Thunder Loop #596, Portis Loop #595, Naturita Rim Loop #594, and Goshorn Loop #593 in alternating figure-eights.

Need to Know

Multi-use trail, open to dirt bikes and horses. Very light, occasional motorcycle traffic.

Description

The western side is rocky and somewhat technical, while the eastern side is smooth and the pedaling is easy. The best way to ride the area, and to achieve the most descending, is to do figure-eights.

Start from the west side across the road from the trailhead parking and ending on the east side. The eastern side of Thunder Loop is the fastest and most fun downhill section.
