Description

This southern extension of the Red Rocks Trail affords great views of the Adobes and the seldom visited Red Rock Canyon. There are some very nice singletrack sections and ridgeline trails. Unfortunately, the trail was created by and for motor bikes and there are steep/loose climbs and descents that will require carrying your bike for hundreds of vertical feet. It would be more rideable from east to west, but be ready for some punishment whichever way you tackle it... caveat emptor.

To ride from east to west you can access the trail from Kurt's Connector or Skull and Crossbones. The first part is mostly smooth with some steep descents. The trail meets Elephant Skin Road 1/3 of the way and you can escape here. Across the road there is a steep rutted hill climb followed by mixed singletrack and hike-a-bike. There are a number of unmarked turns and moto detours on this section, so the MTB Project mobile app may be helpful. Donkey Trail provides another escape about 2/3 of the way through. The trail finishes at a small parking area on Elephant Skin Road across from Moonlight Mesa Trail. There is also a spur going to the larger parking area further north.
