Description

This is the shorter Sleenderzand loop route with a length of about 18 kilometers.

The route is marked with plastic poles with the red IMBA symbols (triangle above two circles). The approach route is equipped with black signs.

To access this route, park at the Recreatieplas, The Kibbelkoele, Middelseweg (N376), North Sleen.

Soon after the start, you can put your skills to the test on a winding singletrack across short, tandem hills. The elevation changes are caused by shifting sand blown up from the period when the area was still heath. Through work done by the local mountain bike club, De Bushbikers, the potential of the area is bring realized through new trails.

There are many new singletracks built and this route runs mostly along the edge of the forest. After a few kilometers, you find a mogul piste. In the next section of the route, there is a little more elevation incorporated. There are several drainage channels that are used in order to get some more height differences in the route.

The route consists of a wide variety of paths where you can catch your breath and fun, technical singletrack. You'll have the opportunity to look out over the wide Drenthe land next to you.

At the end of the route, you'll pass the swimming pool Kibbelkoele. Again, this a very technical singletrack that exists with many twists and turns and where you can enjoy small, steep ascents and descents. The trail is being supported (and used mostly) by the local mountain bike club, De Bushbikers.
