Family Friendly While the full trail out and back might be a bit much for some children, this is a great place to explore.

Description

Ernst Trail follows the Meadville-Linesviile Railroad which built in 1880. The rail line used to transport visitors and goods from the main Pennsylvania line. With the decline of rail travel, the railroad eventually passed into history, but this great trail remains.

Visitors to the trail will enjoy the gentle grades, and the lush, shaded terrain. The trail is located at the bottom of one of the most diverse creeks in Pennsylvania, a fact that can be seen even from this popular route. Along the way, visitors will pass through dense hemlock thickets, and make their way under various types of hardwoods. Eventually the heavily wooded portions will open up into scenic meadows, which are the perfect place to stop for a picnic or a snack.

Parking just past Home Depot. As you enter there, new section of gravel trail will go off to the left. The portion straight ahead is paved and easy. 4mi
