Dogs Off-leash
Overview
Rocks, roots, tech and flow.
Description
The best way to ride this route is to head toward the small pavilion (Daniel Boone pavilion) and make a right to cross a small bridge. This will take you out onto Cherrytree Rd, which you'll follow for about 100 yards.
The entrance into the woods, along with all the intersections on this loop, are marked with a yellow delineator post.
The climb is long but relatively mellow. After a quarter mile, you'll cross a dirt road and continue the climb on the other side. You'll cross a doubletrack multi-use trail at the half way point and at the top of the climb.
Once you find the flow, this downhill can be ridden fast. There are many optional lines that contain log hops, skinnys and rocks. There is one mandatory rock garden that can be navigated quite easily. Stay high in the turn leading into it and then head right down the middle of the rocks.
After a mile, you'll cross a paved road (Cherrytree Rd) and continue on a short downhill section of shared multi-use trail before veering right to continue on the mountain bike trail. This section has a short punchy climb that leads into a small rock garden. You'll then cross a dirt road.
This last section of the loop runs through a small stand of pine trees, which is easy to get lost in if you are not paying attention. After that, you'll make a hard right to cross a large bridge and then follow the creek all the way back to the trailhead.
