Family Friendly Top Loop and Pats Loop have little drop or gain in elevation. While they still have roots that might be challenging, both of these trails stay on top of the topography that adds the extra difficulty.

Overview

This lakefront loop ride heads along varying terrain from one section to the next. It has well spread out climbs and descents to keep you busy.

Need to Know

Dries out from rain quickly, check out all features before riding them.

Description

This loop is ridden counter-clockwise and includes all bicycle-only trails (and one shared horse loop- Pats Loop).

The ride starts at the trailhead across from the kids camp and heads out to the right. Continue onto Pats Loop, Rex Trail, Eddie's Loop, Lakeshore Trail (The Point), Fox Hollow, and the Scenic Overlook Trail. Look for a hard, one hundred and eighty degree, cutback that takes you back on the Main Trail back to the parking lot.

There are various features along the way from dirt jumps on the Lindsey Wilson Downhill Course on Lakeshore Trail, to advanced riding wooden features like "The Viking Ship," teeter totters, and "The Drop."

Race Loop is raced XC once a year by the Lindsey Wilson Cycling Team and the loop is run around 2-3 times for the course. The Lakeshore Trail descent is used for a Downhill Race Course.

Expect roots, berms, rock jumps, and rock gardens. This is a classic KY trail and is not a groomed, machine-built trail. Dual suspension is handy. Beginners may enjoy Top Loop and Pats Loop, while other trails will prove challenging for intermediate riders.

Enjoy the ride.

History & Background

The dirt mounds throughout the park are remnants of root wads from trees knocked over in a 1970's tornado that came through the area. Barn roof metal is still scattered in the woods from this event.
