The first portion of Live Oak Trail exits O'Neill Regional Park, and is a tough uphill along a ridgeline, but still a really great trail. It tops out near Monastery Road, and then turns into more of a doubletrack or wide trail. It's still isolated with fantastic old oak trees.

This portion eventually comes out by Meadow Ridge Drive. You can ride the decomposed granite trail paralleling the road, or up the road itself (low traffic). Eventually, you'll find more actual trail as you proceed to the part paralleling El Toro Road

From that point, it turns into a paved trail, which you can take to farther trails like the Luge, STT, or Whiting Park.
