Description

Westridge is a fire road that connects a parking lot at the top of a (steep) paved road (Westridge) and the Nike Missile Base park up on the dirt Mulholland. This singletrack winds alongside the fire road - you can climb the fire road and then descend the singletrack, or just use the singletrack (or fire road) as part of a larger loop ride. This trail's descent provides short, steep burst climbs from the fire road, followed by fast flowing descents - approx 4 of these big hills during the ride.

The singletrack portion starts where the trail forks. You'll see a fireroad veer off to the left (Water and Power Pole Road - it drops down to Mandeville) and a fireroad that goes uphill to your right (that's Westridge) Go right up the middle up a steep step-up to get onto the singletrack.

To access, either ride up the very steep paved Westridge from Mandeville/Sunset, or park in the lot. Alternatively, you can start up top or use it as the first or last part of a larger loop (such as a Sullivan Canyon climb, or in conjunction with Sullivan Fireroad Climb to Sullivan Canyon, making for a 15 to 19 mile loop if starting in Brentwood.

Lots of hikers and bikers that are respectful of social distancing. A good trail to get yourself back into shape in order to get into longer rides. 10.7mi — 1h 47m
