Technically a horse trail open to bikes and a great workout for all the gravel grinders out there.

This is inside a state park, so you'll need to have a vehicle permit; otherwise, riding into the park is free.

Description

This is technically a horse trail, a mowed path through fields that are put up for hay in late summer. There is no tread which creates a lot of resistance in your ride. I guarantee you'll feel this workout! The main road goes down the middle of the whole trail system, so feel free to bail or make up your own ride of favorite sections!

I didn't find a bit of horse poo on it, so it's under-utilized, but please respect any horse riders you encounter. You'll scare up deer, turkeys, quail, and meadowlarks on these trails. It's a great way to get away from the city.

The trail has several places where the lake or drainage ditches force you out onto the pavement, but you can dive back onto the trail after 100 feet or less.

It's a long ride if you do the whole thing, so be sure to have a couple of water bottles.

The trail parallels the BNSF train line, and there's a train to watch every 15 minutes if that's your thing.

Really nothing but a mowed path. Unless you live in the area and want something different, not worth the trip to El Dorado.
