Description

This trail begins at Cougar Saddle and continues down to Cougar Creek. Along the way you'll pass a very nice lake and the trail has a very remote and rugged feel. The trail does not get a lot of traffic so don't worry if the trail seems to be almost buried in pine cones and needles in some sections. The trail does descend steeply before the main lake and then afterwards. The first descent is very chunky and rocky and will keep you on your toes.

The second steep descent has less rocks but some very tight switchbacks that seem to come up fast and furious as you are picking up speed. This is a great trail to be used for completing a nice loop using Cougar Creek and the North Fork Kennally Creek.

In the fall there can be horse traffic around the lakes since this tends to be a popular hunting area. The rest of the year you'll have the trail all to yourself.
