Description

This seldom used trail is a fast and fun downhill run back to Bear Creek. It starts as a nice ridge trail winding in and out of the oak trees. The trail is faint and a little hard to follow in some areas.

It is about one mile from the Three Pond/High Bridge Trail downhill to the first big switchback. Shortly after the switchback, there is small flat area and a trail takes off back uphill. This uphill trail connects back to the Three Pond Trail.

To continue down Brophy Canyon, and back to Highway 16, look for a faint trail across the flat area that continues straight on down the ridge. There is one more small switch back as the trail drops down closer to the bottom and into thick brush. There are a few downed trees blocking the trail, but these will probably get cleared before long. (as of 4/1/2015 the trail is clear and ride-able all the way down! Super fun!)

Once you hit Bear Creek there are a couple of crossing options but you'll probably still get your ankles wet. Then it is less than a mile along the highway back to High Bridge Parking lot.

Trail has pretty much disappeared. Ended it a brush patch that had been burnt and reincarnated a poison oak. Ended up bushwhacking to the ascent trail
