Description

Though never technically difficult, and the grade is rarely very steep, Line Shack climbs relentlessly over 2,000' up a dirt road. That might make it a grade harder for many. The most strenuous part of the trail is near the top, where the doubletrack steepens for a 100-meter section and the tread becomes loose with baby-head rocks and hard-to-navigate ruts.

Come ride this area of Meadow Mountain in the autumn to see its bountiful aspen forests explode in fiery fall color.

Upon reaching the top of the dirt road, you'll encounter the trail's namesake: the Line Shack. Complete with bunk beds, a wood stove, and a small kitchen area, this rustic cabin offers visitors everything from a fun summertime novelty, to a welcome, sheltered lunch spot during bad weather, to even a wonderful place to overnight on a quick bikepacking outing. Needless to say, it's a unique spot that's worth checking out!

After reaching the top of Line Shack, look east to catch the entrance to Whisky Creek near the back of the cabin for a wild, rooty ride back to the parking area.
