Steeper and looser than it already looks... Goes all the way to the top and it doesn't get any better until it's over. Even the descent is not that fun, to be honest (equally steep and loose on the other side). Necessary to get to the other side, however.

Top of the ridge. Worth the hike! Steep descent for a bit followed by even steeper, rocky and very loose soil; however, the next few miles until Onion Valley junction will be a blast! Getting out of Onion Valley is another story...

Near a meadow where the trails basically disappears, the GPS tracks are mere suggestions and just before loading the bike on my back on the really steep climb, at around 3.5 / 3.6 miles in (from Deadwood Reservoir).
