Overview

If ridden outside moto and eBike season...an awesome workout with incredible views from atop Tenderfoot Mountain.

Description

A great ride that starts with a 50/50 climb and an incredible loop on top of the mountain where the microwave reflector tower used to be years ago. You start by climbing through every imaginable kind of forest from aspen groves, furs, lodge pole and while it's a steady climb, if you find a granny gear and sit back...the climbs have recoverable areas, flats and switchbacks that are designed for you to recover...but make no mistakes...it's a climb.

Your reward: the VIEWS for your well-earned work climbing up.

AT THE TOP: there are some VERY new trails that still have the tractor tracks and are in the process of being buffed out from our usage. I've ridden the upper loop both ways and when you get to the upper loop COUNTER clockwise is the smoother, easier climb. Some will inevitably disagree with me, but if you look at the elevation gain map you'll see the red areas for yourself. I prefer to ride down the steeps instead of climbing them ;)

It should be noted that if you ride this trail during the summer, you MAY encounter some moto riders BUT I've always found them to be courteous and accommodating even though the trail is designated as an OHV trail. A little respect for all users including the occasional but rare hiker you come across, goes a long way for everyones enjoyment. There is cell service on the entire ride, so if you get to a confusing intersection, refer to the MTB Project mobile app.

There is an old mountain road that splits through the ride in several areas, if you find yourself needing to bail on the trail it is a good option to bail out down hill...if you're a machine or want to take a short cut to the top, take the road to shorten the ride but it goes STRAIGHT up, get ready to grind it out. This obviously is not recommended going up.

At the top, for those of you that have been in the county a while, you'll find and ride across the site of the old Dillon microwave reflector tower that has been removed and all that remains is the concrete in the ground. This is the top! Get ready for some amazing downhill with bermed turns and flow. Remember to stop and take lots of pictures in the clearings and enjoy the well built and super fun trail.

This ride typically takes me about 2-3 hours but I stop a lot to take photos often even though it's my weekly ride. Leave a comment and let others know your experience with this awesome trail and the WORLD views from the summit. :)

Fun ride. Grade on climb is pretty easy. Couple of spots that are steep and punchy. Good flow on downhill with berms. Trail was in good condition.
