There are no trailheads along this trail. The best parking is at the trailheads on the Peavine and Iron King trails.

Description

This is a new trail (as of 2022) constructed by the City of Prescott. Starting at the Iron King trail about 1 mile from the junction with the Peavine, the trail drops off of the railroad grade, crossing a fenceline on a metal cattle guard bridge. The trail then meanders north across the grassland, over a broad ridgeline containing a power line. This area is green and pretty after a wet monsoon season. It gets muddy and sticky after rain, so it should be avoided when wet.

After descending off the broad grassy ridgeline and crossing another cattle guard, the trail crosses the headwaters of the Agua Fria River on a gravel covered small dam. The trail then follows the river bed on its north bank for about 1 mile before emerging into the Granite Dells Neighborhood. About half way along this river bank section, the trail crosses Fortress Trail (road). The trail has been constructed along this section with regular grade reversals to prevent water erosion.

Emerging from the river bed, the trail crosses Blazing Ore Trail and briefly parallels Dells Clubhouse Drive before crossing it and descending down a set of switchbacks on a steep hillside.

At the bottom of the hill, the trail turns west and roughly parallels Granite Dells Parkway until terminating at the Peavine Trail about 1 mile south of the Peavine Trail North Trailhead. The trail crosses Dells Pt Rd and the intersection of Iron Rock Pl. and Iron Stone Way.

At the street crossings, it can take a few seconds to locate the continuation of the trail on the other side, but the city has constructed curb breaks and gravel entrances at most of them. Most crossings and the trail endpoints are signed.
