Need to Know

Turn off 1806 on road parallel to the emergency spillway, go all the way to the end, and you'll see the trail on right. Trail can be un-rideable after rain. Keep your eye out for snakes.

Description

Five miles of all-new singletrack that twists and turns while overlooking Lake Oahe. Expect punchy climbs and a mixture of wide-open areas, trees, and valleys. The trail continues to improve with work completed by the Oahe Wheelmen. This loop is broken into three sub-sections known as 1805, 1959, and 2017. Signage coming in 2020 will help riders be able to loop any section they choose.

Not an extremely technical trail, however, being new with limited use so far has not allowed the ground to settle out the natural trail. Can be ridden in any direction.

Oahe Wheelmen Cycling Club was given access by Army Corps of Engineers to begin constructing multi-use (non-horse) trails in the emergency spillway area of Lake Oahe. This is a 100% voluntary trail system beginning in 2018.

Added the trail from the campground. Good ride, pumpy climbing; good for an ebike. 17.9mi

Fun trail, dry, almost hot out early on. Could use some rain and more riders to define parts. All in all, fun little 35 min. workout. — 7h 30m
