Family Friendly Wide trails with few to no obstacles.

Bikes are not allowed beyond where the old roadbed ends and the trail begins. DO NOT ride beyond this point.

Overview

This is a beautiful ride more than a challenging one. You'll be doing some subtle climbs and downhills along the Deep Creek Trail with a beautiful waterfall, but once you get to the Indian Creek Trail, it's a climb to the top! You'll pass by the most beautiful of the three waterfalls on this portion of the trail.

Need to Know

Remember you are biking in a national park, so be respectful of other users and yield the right of way as necessary.

Description

This ride follows some pretty simple doubletrack on old mountain paths through Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Don't let the simplicity of the route rob you of the beauty of this ride! The serenity of the mountian streams while riding is quite an experience, and there is a bit of a climb to the top. This is a great climb for beginners.

This trail uses both the Deep Creek Trail and the Indian Creek Trail (up to the points where bikes MUST turn back). From the parking area, head north on Deep Creek Trail along a fairly level path for about 0.8 miles to the junction with Indian Creek Trail. Take a left to stay on Deep Creek Trail and follow it, slightly uphill, alongside the creek. Once you reach the point where the old roadbed ends and the trail begins, YOU MUST TURN BACK. Bikes are not allowed beyond this point.

Head back down to the junction with Indian Creek Trail and take a left to begin an easy, though consistent, climb alongside Indian Creek. Again, once you reach the end of the old roadbed and the start of the trail, YOU MUST TURN BACK. Bikes are not permitted beyond this point. As you head back, it will be all downhill back to the parking area!
