Description

From the Cross Mountain Trailhead, start a gentle climb, then an easy descent down to the Dolores River. You'll be following the river all the way to its headwaters high up at Bolam Pass. You'll traverse high-alpine meadows that can have incredible wildflowers in July and August. The San Juans loom high above you in all directions, and the views of Graysill Mountain are particularly good.

Near the top, you'll hit a little bit of dirt road and find a meadow at 11,000 feet where you intersect with the Colorado Trail, with options galore in all directions.
