The trail is currently being rehabilitated with help from the Forest Service and volunteers with the Wild Rivers Coast Mountain Biking Association. Full opening of trail is planned to be completed end of summer 2018. Use trail at your own risk.

Description

You can access this wilderness trail from either Agness or just east of Lobster Creek. To access the southern trailhead, from Highway 101 in Gold Beach, take either Jerrys Flat Road or North Bank Rogue River Road to Lobster Creek bridge. If on Jerry Flat Road, cross the bridge to the north side of the Rogue River and follow the signs to Lower Rogue River Trail Trailhead down a rugged gravel road (Silver Creek Road) for a few miles.

The westernmost access to the trail itself starts off from the small parking area at the corner of Agness Illahe Rd and Cougar Lane near the air strip, or at the community building off Cougar Lane.

This is a rough and narrow trail and work is currently being done in 2018 to rehab and clean up the trail. Expect steep punchy climbs/hike-a-bikes, carry-overs (due to downed trees), washouts, stream crossings, and patches of poison oak. The trail follows along the north bank of the famous Rogue River. Look for black bears, salmon, ospreys, eagles, and other wildlife as you wind along the river.

The eastern section within 1-2 miles of Agness is a little better, but look out for fallen trees and washouts after winter storms. Agness has some limited amenities, camping, and seasonal restaurants available.
