Description

The trail is approximately 11 miles in length, consisting of a mix of singletrack and doubletrack, which runs through the Homochitto National Forest. Expect steep and rough climbs as you wind your way through the forest with multiple creek and bridge crossings.

Enjoy the scenery as you go through young pine stands to rugged hardwood bottoms with massive old growth trees that are sure to amaze. Some of the loblolly pines in the forests traversed by the trail are impressively large. Here, the understory is sparse, and you can see a long way around you.

The trail also goes past the upper edges of some clearcuts and crosses several large and small creeks. It leads “across the grain” of typical loess terrain of ridges, little valleys, and box canyons. Plan on getting a good workout. It crosses roads five times in the circuit, but even so, you'll feel that you are in a remote place. The route is well-marked with yellow signs. This is an old National Forest trail which gets little maintenance so be ready to dismount and hike-a-bike some sections.
